Description: During the filming of the Star Wars movies, 2 type of prop lightsabers were made for the cast to use, the normal stunt lightsaber and the 'hero' versions. While the stunt lightsabers were often light to weild for epic duels, the 'hero' lightsabers were the finely tooled pieces that were used for close-up shots where the level of detail is more noticable. This life-size replica of Luke Skywalker's (played by sci-fi all-star Mark Hamill) lightsaber from Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi is made from high quality resin and finished with metal and plastic details, perfect for 'trooping'. In the Star Wars movies, not only do they make multiple copies of the props we see on screen, but different versions, as well.  These are divided into two categories commonly referred to in the industry as "hero" and "stunt."  Hero props are made for close ups and promotional pictures which require a "beauty" shot of the prop.  Often they are featured with the main characters while stunt versions are used for the extras in the background.

Most of the time when a lightsaber is ignited on screen, it is a stunt version of the hilt.  These props are usually cast in resin from the hero prop and then painted to look just like the hero prop.  They are lighter and easier to wield while filming the exciting lightsaber duels and action scenes.  In the case of the stunt lightsabers, there is usually a rod attached to the hilt so that the actors can actually duel and make contact with the blades.  These rods are also invaluable reference points for the special effects technicians to later digitally add in the signature glows of the lightsaber blades.

Description: Ever since Star Wars: Episode VI The Return of the Jedi was released in 1983, rumors have run rampant of a scene where Luke is constructing his new lightsaber in a cave on Tatooine that ended up on the cutting room floor. Like Big Foot, the mystery surrounding this "deleted scene" was so intriguing that it had become lore to Star Wars fans the world over.  A lot of research by fans has been done, little tid-bits of information were found that may indicate the existence of this elusive scene, but nothing definitive.  Even the storyboard that describes this scene was discovered, but there was still no evidence of the scene actually being filmed.

Many believe that the lightsaber that may have been used in this scene was the lightsaber that is referred to as the "MOM" lightsaber, which is the one that was on display at the Star Wars: The Magic of Myth exhibit at the National Air and Space Museum in 1997-1999 and then in the touring exhibit.  This lightsaber had an accessible control box with a removable PCB cover.  It also had a hole near the pommel for possibly the wires.

Fast forward 27+ years, August 14, 2010 . . . Star Wars: Celebration V in Orlando, Florida.  The mystery of the elusive "missing scene" was finally solved and to the thunderous applause of the crowd, it was shown and announced that it will be edited back in the long awaited Blu-Ray Discs of the Star Wars Saga!

Description: In order to produce the most accurate replica of this iconic ship, a number of different reference resources were used.  More than 90% of the model kit parts that were used on the original model were identified.  A digital scan of a TIE Fighter model in the Lucasfilm archives, was used to map the parts, verify the dimensions and scratch build the model kit parts that either could not be found or identified.  An original TIE Fighter that is known to have been used in the filming of Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope was used to match the correct colors.
